Baystate Medical Center Western Massachusetts Region MCPAP Staff
Medical director and child psychiatrist
Barry Sarvet, MD, is the chief of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Baystate Medical Center. Dr. Sarvet is the medical director of the Baystate Medical Center MCPAP site and the supervising medical director of three MCPAP regional sites, including Western Massachusetts (Baystate), Central Massachusetts (UMass), and Boston/Metro Region II (NEMC/Children's). Dr. Sarvet is also an associate clinical professor at the Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Sarvet received his medical degree at Northwestern University and did his residency at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Sarvet served on the Governor's Commission on Children's Mental Health from
2002 until 2005. He is board-certified in psychiatry and in child and adolescent psychiatry.
Child psychiatrists
Bruce Waslick, MD, received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and did his residency at Tufts-NewEngland Medical Center. Dr. Waslick completed his fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He is a child psychiatrist at Baystate Medical Center and is a child psychiatrist for the Baystate MCPAP. Dr. Waslick has special research interests in pediatric psychiatry disorders, randomized
clinical trials, psychopharmacology in pediatric psychiatry disorders, and mood disorders.
Shadi Zaghloul, MD is a child and adolescent psychiatrist who recently joined Baystate Medical Center's child behavioral health department. Dr Zaghloul finished his combined internal medicine and psychiatry residency at the University of Connecticut Health
Center. He completed his advanced psychiatric training in 2008 from Children's Hospital, Boston. Dr. Zaghloul, or Dr. Z as he likes to be called by his young patients, enjoys spending time with his family and playing the guitar.
Sara A. Brewer, MD is
an Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with Baystate Medical Center, MCPAP and also the Child Guidance Center of Behavioral Health Network. She is a recent graduate of The Cambridge Health Alliance's Adult Residency and Child Fellowship Programs and a 2002 graduate of Harvard Medical School. She has special interest in developmental disorders, eating disorders and cognitive behavioral therapies.
CLINICAL NURSE SPECIALIST
Marjorie Williams Kohl, APRN, CNS, received
her master's in nursing from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in child and adolescent psychiatry and mental health advanced practice, and in nursing. Marjorie is a nurse for Baystate Medical Center and for the Baystate MCPAP site.
Social workers
Jodi DeVine,
MSW, LICSW, received her master's degree in clinical social work from Boston College Graduate School of Social Work in 1998. She has worked primarily with children and families in different therapeutic milieus, including school-based clinics, therapeutic day school, residential treatment centers, outpatient clinics, and private practice. She currently works with MCPAP
at Baystate Medical Center as the team social worker.
Jonathan Thomas, MSW, LICSW, graduated from Columbia University School of Social Work and has practiced as a child and family therapist for 21 years at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, Mass. He is certified for independent practice by
the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and has advanced training in family therapy from the Center for Family Learning in New Rochelle, N.Y. He is also an adjunct faculty member of the Smith College School for Social Work. Jonathan currently works with MCPAP as a team social worker in Franklin County.
Care coordinator
Arlyn Perez received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Elms College. Arlyn, who is fluent in both English and Spanish, has had previous experience helping families in many community agencies. Arlyn is planning on returning
back to school and continuing her studies in the field of psychology. She would like to become a child psychologist.
