Program director and Clinical Nurse Specialist

Mary Jeffers TerryMary Jeffers-Terry, APRN, is the program director and staff nurse for our Central Massachusetts MCPAP region.  She received her master’s in nursing from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Ms. Terry has had more than 30 years experience in the field of nursing.  She is an instructor at the Pediatric Psychopharmacology Clinic at the UMass Memorial Medical Center and also a clinical nurse specialist at Psychiatry and Family Counseling in Worcester.  Ms. Terry was involved with Targeted Child Psychiatric Services (TCPS- Follow the link and scroll to “MCPAP History”), a consultation program that preceded MCPAP.  She is a coauthor with Mr. William H. O’Brien, MSW and others (see below) of the article titled, “Targeted Child Psychiatric Services: A New Model of Pediatric Primary Clinician-Child Psychiatry Collaborative Care” (Clin Pediatr (Phila). 2006 Jun;45 (5):423-34 16891275)

Child psychiatrist

Mathieu BerminghamMathieu Bermingham, MD, graduated from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Bermingham completed a combined residency in adult psychiatry and fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry. He is a staff psychiatrist for our Central Massachusetts MCPAP region, and a consulting psychiatrist for Coordinated Family-Focused Care (CFFC).  He is also the medical director of Valley Human Services in Ware and the founder and director of the Center for Well Being.  Dr. Bermingham has had experience developing a smoking cessation program for patients with psychotic disorders. As an Albert Schweitzer Urban Fellow, he developed a violence prevention program for middle schools in Dorchester.  Dr. Bermingham also has a developing interest in telepsychiatry.

Administrator

William H OBrienWilliam H O’Brien, MSW, received his master’s degree in clinical social work from Boston College Graduate School of Social Work. Mr. O’Brien is the executive director of the UMass Memorial Behavioral Health System, the director of Integrated Behavioral Health Services for UMass Memorial, an instructor in psychiatry at UMass Medical School, and the administrator for our Central Massachusetts MCPAP region.  Mr. O’Brien has a 30-year career in behavioral health and social services.  He has served in executive management and clinical management positions in a variety of inpatient, outpatient and community-based programs, agencies, and hospitals.

Social workers

Martha MooreMartha Moore, MSW, received her master’s in social work from the Boston University School of Social Work. She also completed a postgraduate certificate program in alcoholism and drug abuse from the Boston University School of Social Work Continuing Education Department.  Ms. Moore has had 25 years experience as a psychiatric social worker, working with both children and adults.

Deanna PedroDeanna Pedro, MSW, received her master’s in social work from Bryn Mawr College.  Ms. Pedro’s experience includes evaluating patients in the emergency room and other sites for the appropriate level of care, administering psychosocial assessments, assisting patients in obtaining government benefits, and providing individual and group therapy.  She has worked in a variety of settings for both the child and adult populations.

Care coordinator

Kelly Chabot, care coordinator for the UMass MCPAP Team, has over 20 years in the administrative field, including technical writing for a medical device company, consultative services, and customer service. Her compassion for children and their families, together with her many years of experience and organizational skills, allow the UMass MCPAP Team to continue to provide a high level quality of care to their service region.
